Services
The Fort Scott Public Library staff are committed to providing services and programs comparable to those found in larger urban libraries. To achieve this, the library invests in a diverse collection of books and facilitates interlibrary loans throughout Kansas. Digital resources, including Libby and Hoopla, are available to support patrons’ e-reading and audiobook preferences. The library offers complimentary Wi-Fi access and provides 24/7 checkout of hotspots. Computers and laptops are accessible for use within the library premises.
Programming at the library includes offerings for adults and seniors. The Golden Aces group meets weekly and provides opportunities for individuals aged 55 and over to engage in projects, attend lectures, pursue lifelong learning, and build social connections. Additionally, the BYOB Club (Bring Your Own Book) convenes monthly to facilitate discussion on current readings and foster literary discovery.
Ongoing improvements include upgrading computer systems and expanding the library’s collection. In fall 2025, a Shushbooth—a soundproof booth designed for private study or business activities—will be introduced. Plans also feature the development of a Makerspace, a Library of Things, and the availability of games for patron checkout. For information on upcoming events, please consult the library’s calendar or Facebook page. We invite you, the patrons of Fort Scott and Bourbon County, Kansas, to visit soon to experience the latest enhancements.
Copy | Print
The library provides printing from our computers or your phone, as well as copying services. Black and white copies are 10 cents each, while color copies are 50 cents.
